NOVA Open, Game 1

Game 1 vs mech Blood Angels.

VP win conditions.

I win 1771 - 570. Plus get 3 (out of 5) to his 0 objectives and 3 table quarters to his one.

Highlights included his Mephiston killing my Mephiston. Me only failing 3 2+ saves all game (out of maybe 60). He only got 3 vindicator shots off and 2 deviated off my squads completely. And him only getting 3 rends total with all his assault cannon shots.

Full(ish) batreps to come when I get back.

  1. Keep it up! Play Stelek next round! lol

  2. I'm on table 9, Steele is on 11. Plus the way they sees here, if you win big, you play against someone that barely won.

  3. So if you win big, you play against a weaker player? So something like NBA seeding. Ouch.

  4. Yup, exactly. Meant to ensure two best players meet in finals, rather than in an early round.

  5. That would discourage sandbagging to avoid the top tables, which isn't a terrible thing. Looking forward to your reports, as I have some designs on a very similar army, due to the overall fantastic models.

    Best of luck to you.

  6. I'll have to put some thought into that. If the best winner plays the first winner, then you certainly favor the guy who performed better in the last round.

I'm not sure that guy is the best player (the secondary goals are probably more impacted by match-up, mission and luck than skill), but it certainly gives me incentive to completely crush my opponent.

One of the appeals of a W/L/D tournament is that you don't have to crush your opponent to advance (unlike the old 1601+ VP objectives at Adepticon). This kind of reintroduces that incentive.

Interesting -- can't wait to hear how it turns out!

  7. Bear in mind, MKerr - it's NOT a W/D/L event, but a W/L one. Draws are as improbable as a snowstorm in the Sahara.
